The Story of Us Podcast
Bringing light and joy to life’s dark moments — through connection, community, and honest conversation.
Like many of my friends, I had big dreams of what life would be like “as a grown up.” I imagined my job, my future partner, children — all the joys society promised me.
Turns out, being a grown up is really hard.
I entered a relationship with someone of a different ethnic background, who had a daughter. I didn’t know a thing about being a step-parent. When we decided to start a family together, having a child didn’t come easily. We faced infertility for years — and when we were finally pregnant, and it stuck, I fell into postpartum depression.
When the fog finally lifted, I began to reflect.
What did I wish I’d had during those dark times? Community. Connection. Safe movement for my body. Meditation to calm my anxiety. A break. Laughter. Meaningful moments.
Family, Defined by Love.
